The practical answer
Big Walk Co-op & Multiplayer
Big Walk is an online-only cooperative adventure for two to 12 players. The host chooses a world configuration for two, three, or four-plus players, which adjusts some challenges but does not cap the session size. There is no public matchmaking: friends join a host through their platform friends list or an in-game Join Code. The host owns the save and must return for the group to continue that run. Built-in proximity voice and text chat are part of the puzzles, so the developer recommends that players use the game's communication tools instead of an outside call.

Is there a solo option?
Bring another human player
No. A player can start a session and explore briefly alone, but the official FAQ says the game has no single-player mode and its cooperative challenges require at least two players.
Does Big Walk support crossplay?
Full online crossplay connects the PC and Mac versions, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2. Friends on different systems can join with an in-game Join Code, while same-platform friends can also find an active session through that platform's friends list. The Mac App Store build does not show a friends-game list, but Join Codes still work.
PC and PS5
Supported. Join through the in-game friends list or a Join Code.
PC and Switch 2

Cross-generation support
Big Walk is not available on PS4, Xbox consoles, or the original Nintendo Switch, so there are no cross-generation platform pairs.
What your group needs before playing
How many copies does your group need?
1 per player/device
Every device joining online needs its own copy or licensed access to Big Walk. There is no couch co-op, split screen, or Friend's Pass. The host keeps the save, so that same player must host again when the group wants to continue its shared progress.
Can one owner bring a guest?
No free guest version
No. Big Walk does not offer a Friend's Pass or free guest client; every participating device needs access to the game.
Which online memberships apply?
PS Plus / Switch Online
Steam and Mac players need internet access but no paid platform multiplayer subscription. PS5 online play requires PlayStation Plus, and Nintendo Switch 2 online play requires Nintendo Switch Online.
Who is Big Walk good for?
- Online groups from two to 12 players
- Friends playing across PC, PS5, and Switch 2
- Groups that enjoy communication puzzles
- Returning groups that can keep the same host
