It Takes Two Co-op & Multiplayer
The full campaign requires exactly two players and can be played in split-screen couch co-op or online. Couch play works offline on one system. The original PC, PlayStation, and Xbox versions launched on March 26, 2021; the Nintendo Switch version followed on November 4, 2022 and also supports local wireless play between two Switch systems.

No. It Takes Two is built for exactly two human players and has no solo campaign or AI partner.
Does It Takes Two support crossplay?
There is no cross-platform play between PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. Cross-generation play does work within the PlayStation family between PS4 and PS5 and within the Xbox family between Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Nintendo Switch players can only join another Nintendo Switch player.

Cross-generation support
Cross-generation online play works from PS4 to PS5 and from Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S. That does not enable play between PlayStation and Xbox.

What your group needs before playing
How many copies does your group need?
1 with Friend's Pass
Couch co-op needs one full copy on the shared system and a controller for each player. Online co-op can use two full copies or one full copy plus the free Friend's Pass for the invited partner; the owner must host. Both players need the applicable platform accounts, and console players need the online multiplayer membership required by their platform. Steam online play also requires an EA Account linked to Steam.
Can one owner bring a guest?
Yes, with Friend's Pass
Yes. The owner can invite one partner on the same platform family to use the free Friend's Pass for the full online campaign.
Which online memberships apply?
Console online membership
Local couch play needs no online subscription. Online console play requires PlayStation Plus, an Xbox Game Pass tier that includes online console multiplayer, or Nintendo Switch Online on the applicable system; PC has no paid platform subscription requirement.
