How co-op works
Co-op supports two to four players in local and online modes. A group can play entirely on one system, connect from separate systems, or take multiple local players online from one system. Campaign sessions require private invitations, while Arcade supports public matchmaking. The Xbox Series version launched on November 10, 2020, PS5 followed on November 12, and the PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions arrived on March 23, 2021.
Crossplay support
Online crossplay works among PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, including campaign levels and public matchmaking. Cross-platform friends connect through the in-game Team17 friends list. Cross-platform save transfer is not supported, and every player must use All You Can Eat rather than the separate Overcooked! 2 release.
How many copies are required?
Local co-op on one system needs one copy and a controller for each player. For online play, every participating system needs access to Overcooked! All You Can Eat, although several local players can share one copy and system before joining an online group. There is no Friend's Pass. Console players also need the applicable platform accounts and online multiplayer memberships.
Who is it good for?
- Three- or four-player couch groups
- Friends playing across different platforms
- Communication-heavy party sessions
- Groups that want adjustable difficulty options
